Artist Biographies

LAURENCE DAVID (1954 - )

Born in Provence, Laurence David attended the School of Fine Art in Lyon. She began her career as a commercial artist before turning to fine art in 1978. David's signature style juxtaposes the nostalgic spirit of an antique print with the subtle color and freshness of a contemporary watercolor. Her simple, linear renderings are accented with delicate washes of color.

Inspired by the quaint gardens of Provence and her own passion for collecting antiques, the artist selects subjects that evoke cherished memories. David carefully researches her subjects, often from her own collection of antique tools, books and furniture, accurately rendering even the smallest details.

Her enchanting prints have enjoyed immense popularity both in Europe and the United States. The artist continues to live near Provence where she maintains her studio.
